Whilst Christmas shopping back in December, I decided that it was time that I invested in some new candles to introduce to my room. For the past few months I had been burning some old candles which I had found whilst cleaning, but none of them were fragrant enough for me.
Although the idea of having a beautiful smelling candle burning away is appealing, I wasn't prepared to pay excessive amounts of money for one, like the Jo Malone or Nest candles. So I thought a fairly reasonable alternative would be the Yankee Candles. I have not been disappointed with these at all.
A new shop near to where I live has recently opened, which stocks both the Yankee candles as well as other trinkets and home accessories and also bath bombs so on my first visit to this shop I was a little excessive.
I ended up purchasing 3 candles, as well as a set of 3 candle holders and then later went and brought a fourth candle.
Here is one of the candle holders which was part of the set of three. As at the time it was nearing Christmas, the shop was selling festive items and these really caught my eye. I think for the set they cost something like £5 and this was really good value for money. Although they are quite festive with the snowflakes I am still using them now because they are so beautiful.
Of course, I then had to buy some candles to burn inside them. I went for the Yankee candle samplers because they fitted perfectly and cost £1.80 each. My favourite of the four candles I picked up is 'Merry Marshmallow' because it is so sweet and relaxing.
I've found Snowflake Cookie to be fairly similar in that it is really sweet smelling and reminds me of home baking, especially around Christmas time.
The 'Bahama Breeze' candle has also been a lovely candle, very refreshing and smells like a mixture of the beach and cocktails, cue the holiday blues!
Out of the four, I have to say that Salted Caramel has been my least favourite. It smells exactly as expected, but it is very overpowering and even though my one has now been burned, I can still smell it in the holder.
Alongside the Yankee Candles I have also been burning unscented candles to create a relaxing and serene environment. I plan to continue using Yankee candles as well as unscented candles throughout the rest of the winter because I have been loving them so far.
